The Dark Seed

Fraction

The masses of insects which developed under the influence of Tsukuyumi have remained beyond his control. They only follow their own laws – those of the swarm intelligence. They are united by the insect queen, who fills them with the conviction that the new world belongs to them.

After the moon fell, the cadavers of millions of animals rotted in the glaring sun – a feast for insects and their larvae. But the closer they got to the moon, the more strongly Tsukuyumi’s pheromones affected them. The insects began to change, grew bigger, stronger – and their number increased immeasurably. The white dragon recognised the potential of the new lifeforms and wanted to include them in his army. He saw them as fast-breeding servants who would quickly raze the earth.

But in the middle of the species, something formed which spoke the language of the insects better than he did: The insect queen rose up to rule, and beguiled the other insects with her own pheromones, rendering Tsukuyumi’s influence void. The message to her underlings was simple: Unite, and destroy your creator!

So the swarm is moving and spreading its seed into the world.

Gameplay

The fast play style of the Dark Seed makes them accessible for beginners. The diversity of the units allows the player to swiftly turn a harmless swarm of workers and drones into a dangerous army, which moves across the board much faster than the opponent can anticipate. At the same time, players should not have a problem with sacrificing individual units for the good of the whole faction.

The Dark Seed thrive on additional actions which are available to their units in every round. Discover the countless facets of the Dark Seed, plant dangerous eggs in the earth to distract your opponent and use the advantage of starting your game in an area of your choosing instead of at the edge of the board.

If you like playing with variations on the general rules, enjoy tricking your opponent and always staying one step ahead, then the Dark Seed is for you.

The Dark Seed prefer a fast game, as they can already dominate the game in the third round and generate enough victory points for the final tally.
